Alert
South and Southwest Portland Increased Air Activity

We are aware of the higher volume of helicopter and propeller airplane activity over South and Southwest Portland. This appears to be related to federal law enforcement and/or military activity and is not a development the Port of Portland can control.

Water Management and Conservation

We are committed to responsible water management and strive to integrate water conservation and management into our daily decisions. Our goals are to:

  • Increase water use efficiency (reduce waste) and reduce operating costs.
  • Encourage the use of our non-potable water sources including well and surface water, rainwater, and wastewater to help conserve potable water for the region.

To be successful, our conservation strategy must incorporate more than just a mechanism for installing structural water-saving features. It also includes a framework of programs and tools that promote a culture of water conservation.

Examples of water conservation projects include:

  1. Installation of high efficiency appliances and low flow toilets and urinals in the PDX Terminal.
  2. Conversion of rental car wash water at PDX from potable to non-potable water sources, including water re-use and rainwater harvesting.
  3. Conversion of irrigation water along Port roadways and greenspaces from potable to non-potable water sources.
